The Book:
Glimpses of North East India: 200 knowledge cards
These 200 knowledge cards take the reader on a journey of the eight States of the North East region of India. The peoples of this troubled part of India have either been exoticized or portrayed as insurgents. In fact the insurgency is a reflection of the alienation of the peoples who are involved in day to day struggles to survive.
The people of North East India have an astonishing culture heritage preserved through the generations. They resisted the incursions of the colonial rules and to day they are battling force of the Market and the State to preserve their heritage form extinction.
We believe the rich culture diversity of the North East is not an obstacle in the way of progress but a resource to be nurtured and nourished. That is why we have included the full text of the UNESCO Declaration on Culture Diversity, 2001 in the small pamphlet which is included in the box of 200 knowledge cards.
These 200 knowledge cards can be used by schools for quizzes, debates, group discussions and projects. They have something to offer to students, teachers, citizens and tourists.
